SYSTEMIC RACISM AFFECTS MANY AREAS OF OUR LIVES AND SOCIETY. BELOW ARE A FEW EXAMPLES OF AREAS THAT ARE MAJORLY AFFECTED

WEALTH GAP

A 2019 survey by the Federal Reserve showed Black and Hispanic families have considerably less wealth than white families. Black families' median and mean wealth is less than 15 percent that of white families

INCARCERATION

Systemic racism is evident at every stage of the system, from policing to prosecutorial decisions, pretrial release processes, sentencing, correctional discipline, and even reentry

EMPLOYMENT

According to a study in 2003, white names receive 50 percent more callbacks for interviews

DRUG ARRESTS

Despite roughly equal usage rates, Blacks are 3.73 times more likely than whites to be arrested for marijuana.

Harsher sentencing also continually happens for drug possession or use.

HOUSING

There are many types of housing discrimination including negative references from landlords, "steering", and outdated policies

INFANT MORTALITY

Did you know that Black mothers are 3 three times as likely to die during childbirth, that Black and Hispanic mothers are more than twice as likely not to receive proper prenatal care and Native American mothers are more than 3 times less likely to receive proper care?
